Gutter upkeep in Hilton Head Plantation is the owner's job by rule: the POA makes owners responsible for maintaining, painting, repairing and replacing gutters and downspouts. A&A Island Services has handled gutters in the Lowcountry for 20+ years, with our owner at each job.
What Shapes Gutter Work in Hilton Head Plantation
The POA puts Hilton Head Plantation at about 4,300 homes on roughly 4,000 acres, bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway and Port Royal Sound, with Dolphin Head Recreation Area on the sound. The Sea Pines Company bought this north-end land for it in 1971. A Homes on Hilton Head guide says almost all of the homes went up between 1970 and 1999, and the POA calls its residents primarily full-time.
Pines set the workload. POA rules require owners to remove roof pine straw that detracts from the home's appearance, to keep houses free of pinesap staining, and to get a permit before removing any tree 3 inches or more across at breast height. Clemson Extension notes that pines may shed their oldest needles in late summer or early autumn, near the September 10 peak of hurricane season cited by the National Hurricane Center.
Rain keeps coming: the Hilton Head Island 4.0 N station averages about 51 inches a year under NOAA's 1991 to 2020 climate normals, with August wettest at about 7 inches. That runoff heads for lagoons and wetlands, and the POA credits its Cypress Swamp Conservancy with absorbing millions of gallons of storm water.
